Sacred Experience

Pray before,
during, and after,
from inside a spiritual center,
as you cherish your lover,

be brave and be careful
that your energies bless and protect
a most precious creature
in whom God is adoringly pleased,

allow holy spirit to enter
domain so made sacred,
that love may resonate
with great power
and divine will.

Survival of the Humble

So human race,
do you seek survival
in all your ambiguous top-heavy ego-centric expectations,
addicted to solutions of the hypothetical,

or can you face your evil
enough to accept love that's unconditional
extending to the next miracle,

best be careful
of suicidal denial
in the form of any sort of relief
that can be final,

for life has more mystery to reveal
to those still pursuing the holy grail,
and what is to unravel
for those that fail at the crap-shooters' gamble
along the path of dark travail,

between the messiah and the martyr
everything is now at stake,
and everything is possible
for the brave, the grateful,
and the humble.

Destined Reunion

The ego's delusion
is only an illusion
within the dream of love,

full moon shines
after the rain
and soothes all the worldly pain,

friendly faces meet again
for respite
for a time,

to gaze into each other's eyes
and smile through social disguise,

the light of life that they all share
from kindly hearts
that deeply care.

Staying Simple

Be blessed
in the basic awareness
of knowing
you do not know
the answers,

In this humbleness
is strength
guiding all
toward their own true nature,

Not the weakness
of complicated cleverness
that disguises the ego
as the master,

Be willing
to blend peacefully
into common-place cycles of life
with sensible precaution
of the silent destiny
always at work,
regardless of your particular opinion,

There lies comforting understanding,
within faithful surrender to the unknown,
invisible, inevitable presence,
that a clearer pattern exists,

Containing the joy
of simply being
amidst the unforced process
of the Tao.

Is It Possible

Is it possible
she is prettier
with greater power to inspire,
than before,

is it possible
she is more beautiful,
inside and out,
because of her endured travels
and travails,

is it possible
I love her
even more,
as I just admire her
from afar,

is it possible
I will see her
on the other side of the veil,
and, as I greet her,
with "aloha,"

she will know her friend
once called Igor.

Lonely as Hell

So lives the happy hermit,
alone, but not lonely,
with sentient beings at his side,
and the Tao flowing deep inside,

living with loving longing
within a delicate balance
that can no longer afford the dance
of extravagance,

and sometimes peeks in the comical
to this stoic presence
and makes his soul chuckle,

when considering the plural
of moose is still moose,
although many a mouse
become mice,

oh well,

perhaps he is lonely as hell,
after all.

Indefinable Pleasure

So I am released
from childish infatuation,
moved to a somewhat soberer condition
that sees with wider eyes,

past seducing emotion of pulsing memories
of a lingering kiss, turgid flesh,
and throbbing thoughts,

through the physical to a new level
of reason containing all that passion,
and something more,

an indefinable pleasure
deep-set into the soul,
to the realm of love
that's unconditional.

No Return to Eden

War, war, war,
quasi-imperialism in store
for the nation already sore,
and wondering what militarism is good for,

will the present incursion
even decrease our depression
into the face of fear,

oh Lord,
when will we finally learn our lesson
that compassion is the true cure for terror,
as well as our dysfunctional desire
to corrupt our relationship with nature,

so we stare with despair
into the abyss
that stares back into us,

while the question of our survival
at this point of no return to Eden,
has become quite rhetorical.

Be Like Water

Be like water,
mysterious,
elusive to the grasping touch,
persistently gentle
in eroding the unyielding,
flexible in entering
where nothing solid can block
its curious searching,

So mutably soft,
safe from harm
or being destroyed
in simply changing form
and returning again,
overtime,
overcoming the hard,

Steady drip, drip, drip
of resolute kindness
becoming a large lake of serenity,
a reservoir
where evil cannot enter,

Be like water,
flowing everywhere,
gushing, sometimes shooting,
aerated, slippery, and pure,
wherever,
containing a message of spiritual reverence
nourishing thirsty souls
with regenerating sustenance,
even in the midst
of world-wide sorrow,

Be like water,
with strength
so like the Tao,
you get it
by relaxing into the river,
and letting go.

Final Say

Listen to the ghost of Ho Chi Minh,
that you don't commit the same sin
over and over again,

where is true power
but in deep passion,
not in mercenary gun-fire
of many ill-missioned men,

beyond victory and/or defeat of military battle
remains the question of political survival,
as you become the one you kill
and part of the problem,
not the solution,

to a continuing version of hell,
soulful determination will always win
in the end,

flowing gracefully
with great momentum of moral authority,
past even the pain of death,
to the Tao's final say.

All is Well

I look through her eyes
to see her beauty
in light of golden grace,

where angels dance their grateful duty,
how can I deny such sanctity
flowing in sweet serenity,

heart-to-heart
within love's tender touch,

subtle feel is my devotion
that rides the waves of a rolling ocean
to unseen destination,

yet with fathomless faith
that all is well,

all is well.

Peaceful Release

A funeral is for the living,
a reunion for cathartic cleansing,
a way to say good-bye,

for the only souls
that need be consoled
are the ones left behind,

so travel past this tearful veil, sweet spirit, travel on,
free of earthly pain, to eventual destination
where your consciousness will take you
to immortal due,

beyond this dense dimension
to peaceful eternal essence
through and through.

Daily Devotion

So I offer
my heart
upon your altar,

for you to do
with what you will,

may your heart open
with compassion
in return,

and so be blessed,
taken to the realm of the divine
for holy respite,

within the moment
of the eternal now,

such is the intention
of the daily devotion
that I send to you.

Who Knows the Wind?

Who knows the wind,
or the origin of man,
or the moon,
or the destiny of the stars
of heaven,

who knows the dance of life,
as it shows truth
in all its stark reality,
shining through the dark of night
with the light of wise intention,

who knows the wind
flowing through the mind,
knows naturally,
the love that is within
the common sense of all creation.

Benediction

Let it be
about love,
not fear, anger,
and/or reprisal,
or the grim dictates of the ego,

let it be
about the wisdom of peace
that settles into the silence
with lingering presence,

let it be
about the imagination of life
expressing freedom
aligned with divine power,

let it be
about compassion at the moment of truth,
in the face of death
when the worth of the soul
shows through,

let it be
shining with moral authority
of the light of creation,
in praise and devotion
to God,

let it be
that way
with you,

and so it is.

Thinking without Demands

Loosen your mind’s knots,
allow freedom to breathe fresh
through unstifled thoughts
untethered from rules
and chaotic details
that weigh so heavily,

Let the spark of spirit’s spontaneity
fly free
from pinching responsibility
and kindle soul’s perspicacity,

For enraptured being
within Tao’s warm embrace
and trusting in the happiness
of that unrestricted expression,

Naked erotic excellence dancing,
seducing the psyche
to supreme loyalty,
independent of intrusive demands
of exacting repression,

Primal music flowing
jungle rhythm cavorting
through cellular memory,
opens the heart
to love’s inspiration,

A joyful reunion
with natural beauty,
now, a close companion,
as a butterfly fluttering,
gliding near in the wind.

The Independent Mind

Pursuing a special lover’s favor
is degrading,
alarming even,
whether lost or gotten,
if sacrificing the basic nature
of the true self.

Giving yourself permission
to respect the vision
of your inner passion
aligned in simple expression
of the Tao,

Is the bravery
of an independent mind,
flowing freely
of external opinion,
whether positive
or negative.

Approval comes from the eternal
self-less internal
connection to the Source of Love,

That spiritual essential
congruence with all life,
that fervent belief
in the universal worth
of your own unique faith.

Living Oneness

The detached observer
assumes a state of bliss
by embracing the power
of primal virtue,
and becoming a part of the oneness
of the Tao,

Although the illusion of the dualities
of opposites
appears to dominate
in the ego-based world of fear,

The wise witness enjoys
the flow of life,
identifying without trying
to attach
to reality’s ever changing demeanor,
caught within the course
of drama’s mighty river,

The sage loosens grip
on mortality’s nature,
and gains the freedom to live
in, but not, of it,

Learning the lessons of love,
laughing with the wind,
allowing transcendent senses
to feel the invisible energy
of God’s unity.

Living Humility

Enough is enough
when more becomes less
at the zenith of sharpness
where further honing of the blade
just creates dullness,

A cup overfilling is spilling,
a dying kitten is screaming,
and death becomes a gentle expression
of loving mercy.

A point of saturation is reached
when more riches just bring insecurity
and honor and pride puff
into a vacuous cloud of vanity,

And it is time to retire
from the treadmill of ego’s desires,
allowing the pleasure of being,
rather than trying and doing
for the sake of personal reward,

Accepting the humility of the Tao
as a guide-on
to true contentment.

Living from the Void

The vital essence
of each musical note of a symphony
is the silence
from whence it comes,

What is
depends
on what is not,

That is
the value of the void,
that inner space
that forms the clay pot,
or the emptiness
that defines the interior of a house,
or the state of non-being
that creates your psychic core,

That Tao part of you
where thoughts emerge,
kind and pure,
activating your unique usefulness,

Allow and let go,
like breathing love
from the placeless place within you,
passionate ideas flowing through your mind,
to the physical world,
outward,
manifesting a sweet resonating harmony.

Love Power

The human heart’s magnetic power
is the only true solution
to the mass confusion
of amoral infection,
of world depression,
of positioning planetary destruction,

the beckoning force of compassion
is the only salvation
from the impending celestial condition,
that will no longer accommodate life
with unconscious direction,

such will be
the new natural selection,

all forms of religion
melt into one,
during this global warming,
that offers the possibility
of extinction or redemption,

so survivors must love with a force of attraction
greater than their fear can offer,
prayer being the only protection
in this psychic war,

rather than
whatever weapons and devious means,
desperate minds can conjure.

Eventually

When push comes to shove
souls just be
where they want to be,
gravitating to their deep feeling sensibility,

despite superficiality
of contrite physical constraint,
so streams consciousness
through heaven and hell
or whatever spell
the mind can conjure,

exercising free will
by the light of the dancing candle,
exorcizing damning devils
through extended burning prayer vigils,

to eventually settle
into due magnetizing disposition
within the realm of the spiritual.

Eternal Changelessness

Unremember the fear
of the past
in the miracle of your perception
of the present,

accept here
the healing effects of Cause,
with happy consequences,
now,

closing the gap surprisingly
between illusion and reality,
allowing God’s memory
to bridge time instantly,

with gentle sounds
speaking from the stillness,

so disappears
any ominous image
blocking the glad awakening to peace,

in the prayers
that beckon the eternal changelessness,

of Love.
