Tears have taught me...

Tears have taught me a tremendous amount, and I know now that they often come bearing important gifts. There has emerged a half-baked spiritual myth that invalidates sadness, claiming it is beneath us if we are walking the path to true enlightenment. But surely one of the most powerful lines in the Bible is one of the simplest: "Jesus wept."

May your light burst forth within me...

Dear God,
May your light burst forth within me,
To bathe my inner self
and shine through me to bless
all living things
Amen

Love is our fuel.

Love is our fuel. It gives grace to progress and blessing to our will for power. We fail in our deepest responsibility to God and to ourselves each time we fail to declare love and act on love and witness to love.

Love is a hero's journey...

Love is a hero's journey, and the hero's journey is a noble but difficult path.

There is a difference...

There is a difference between a wayshower and a crutch. Sometimes people claim they don't need a crutch like Jesus. But he's not a crutch; he's a teacher. If you want to be a writer, you read the classics. If you want to make great music, you listen to music composed by great musicians who have gone before. If you're studying to be a painter, it's a good idea to study the great masters.

Please send to me the spirit ...

Dear God
Please send to me the spirit of your peace.
Then send, dear Lord, the spirit of peace from me to all the world.
May everyone I think of and all who think of me see only innocence and love,
for that is who we are.
Bless, dear God, my bond with others.
Make holy my relationships, and peaceful our communications,
body to body and soul to soul.
Amen

And that's what I wanted ...

And that's what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wanted to take people higher, the way artists did, and philosophers. I fell in love with the thought that a human life could be a priestly conduit, a connecting link between earth and sky.

If it is Your will...

Dear God,
If it is Your will,
may I please have
the happiness I dream of.
All of it,
according to Your will,
now and forever.
Thank you God.
Amen
